Nomad

Nomad is a…mentorship program, journal of undergraduate writing, speaker event, conference, prize, and more…

The year-long Nomad Mentorship Program offers undergraduates from all majors the opportunity to develop their skills of research, writing, and conference presentation as they work toward publication of an article in the journal of the same name.

The program is comprehensive. It pairs undergraduate participants with faculty and graduate student mentors, who provide them with one-on-one guidance in developing advanced research skills in the literary humanities. Students are supported through the process of conceiving, refining, writing, and editing an essay related to the annual theme over a nine-month period. Additionally, the program organizes a speaker event designed to teach participants how to present their own work to the public, skills they will demonstrate during Nomad’s annual undergraduate conference.

Students then submit their essay to the Nomad Editor for publication consideration in the journal of undergraduate writing, nomad. During the academic year 2021-2022, the research theme was “Pre-/Post-.” The research theme for 2022-2023 will be determined in the Fall of 2022.

Applications for the year 2022-2023 are now closed. If you are interested in the program for the following years, please contact the 2022-2023 editor, Nadège Lejeune, nadegel@uoregon.edu
