Declaring the Major

How to declare a major in Comparative Literature

Students wishing to declare a major in Comparative Literature meet with Prof. Kenneth Calhoon to discuss their interests and develop a program of study:

Prof. Kenneth Calhoon
kcalhoon@uoregon.edu
315 Villard Hall, 541-346-4060
Summer Office Hours: by appointment

When the student decides to declare the major, Prof. Calhoon submits the required notification to the Registrar.

Verification

The student should check DuckWeb to see the new major reflected about 7 days after declaring the major. After declaring the major, the Degree Guide in DuckWeb will display the status of the major requirements.

Focus Fields

In consultation with the major adviser, students choose a Primary National Linguistic Field and a Secondary Focus Field. These fields are declared with the major, and once declared, courses completed in the focus fields will be reflected in the Degree Guide in DuckWeb. Freshman and sophomore majors may wait to declare their fields, but by the Junior year, the student should have developed a plan of study with the major adviser, including designation of the focus fields.
