NOMAD
NOMAD, the UO Undergraduate Comparative Literature journal, is about to launch into an exciting new direction. Having featured the best of undergraduate essays from Comparative Literature classes since 2001, NOMAD will now publish papers that will be generated by undergraduate students in conjunction with the Annual Comparative Literature Speakers Series: The 2007/2008 edition will feature writing arising from COL[TV].
NOMAD will thus provide an exciting opportunity for students to see their work in print. Students who have their essays accepted to NOMAD will have partaken in a mentorship program under the personal tutelage of volunteer graduate student and faculty. From the subject matter’s conception, to research methodology, to putting words on the page, to structuring arguments, to final and perfect proof-reading, students will have the chance to get a firsthand experience of the business of getting articles published.
The journal's title reflects the vast range and diversity of topics and trajectories that currently strain at the disciplinary boundaries of comparative literature and cultural studies, and it is our hope that NOMAD will provide new insights and help to open new areas of scholarship that may not be “on the map” of current faculty and graduate students.
